Justifying Text on Link Bar Buttons

Link bars provide powerful ways to link to pages both on and off your site. With FrontPage 2003, you can use the buttons from any of the Themes installed on your system whenever you want to customize link bars.  Depending on the Theme you use, you may want to change how the text on the navigation buttons appears- either centered, right-justified, or left-justified.

First, open a FrontPage or Windows SharePoint Services-based Web site that contains the link bar you want to work on using FrontPage 2003 and do the following:

  1. In Folder List view, double-click on a page that contains the navigation bar you want to work on.  This opens it for editing in Page view.
  2. From the Format menu, select Theme... to open the Themes task pane.
  3. Click the down arrow on the Theme you want to modify, select Customize... to open the Customize Theme dialog box, and then click the Graphics button.
  4. Select the Font tab and in the Item: drop down box, click the type of button text you would like to change justification for:

Global Navigation Buttons changes navigation buttons that are in link bars.
Horizontal Navigation changes navigation buttons that are side-by-side.
Vertical Navigation changes navigation buttons that are stacked on top of each other.
Quick Back Button, Quick Home Button, Quick Next Button, and Quick Up Button are used in link bars with back and next links.

Example: In the Horizontal Alignment section, click Left to left-justify, Center to center the text, or Right to right-justify the text.

  5. Change from one to another button element in the Item drop down box, make your changes to button text justification, exit the Customize Theme dialogs by repeatedly clicking OK, and Save your changes. The changed Theme is applied and the text on the buttons is now justified accordingly.

Tip: See Adding Spaces to Link Bar Buttons for more about tweaking Link Bar formatting.
